Demos, Videos and Gig-ohs.

Well howdy.

It's been a long time in between drinks for blog posts, and I apologise on behalf of the state of Little Bonesland. A lot of things have been happening, but do you ever get the feeling that despite the fact that things are happening, you're moving glacially slow?

Little Bones does. Little Bones feels this so much it's longing for a volcanic eruption to melt the glacier, and stop international flights for a few weeks.

But... this is a reasonably packed blog post! Because a lot has happened since we last posted.

Firstly, we reshot the video from our last blog post about at a proper studio (with Emma and Tom again), in front of a green screen. We're waiting on seeing the video but word on the street (that's Little Green Light Films' street, Emma and Tom's production company) is that it looks pretty damn good, despite the fact we were joking around so much that we kind of held the filming up a little.... which is probably something to do with the fact we spend too much time together playing music and drinking.

Which, in related news, means that we're pretty fit for gigging. I've been dropping off demos and e-mailing people for the last few weeks, and I can announce, here, that we have our first gig of the year on the 28th of May at the Chaise Lounge in the city!

We're playing as part of acoustic showcase, but we're playing full band, so come on down and support us. We may blow the earholes of people who expect to see nice , light acoustic music, but if we have the numbers, we're pretty much golden.

The more tickets we sell, the more likely it is we'll get a resident gig and/or get a spot on their stable for the bands the organisers manage (they organise tours for international and local bands).

So put it in your diary, put it on a post-it and put in on your mirror, tattoo it on your chest in a gothic font with our band logo, do what you must to remember! The tickets will be $10 directly from us ($12 on the door), but as a way of recompense, everyone who buys a ticket will get a copy of our demo/EP.

Which is the next piece of interesting news! Yes, you read right, solid copies of our EP will be available soon. Now, it's been a long time since we recorded these tracks... It's not exactly news that we have songs recorded as a full band and, I'll be damned, it's over 6 months since they were recorded.

We were a different band then. We can play those songs now in so many ways it's rare that we practice them in the original form (punk, metal and wimpy singer-songwriter seem to be our favourite ways to play them when we're taking the piss), so it will be good to have them in your hands, and in the hands of people who will hopefully want to book us. The Old Bar guy seemed intrigued by our demo when I dropped in, so watch this space, I guess.

If you would like to listen to the demo - look left. The songs are all there for your streaming and perusal!

I (Wes) will be away in New York with my lovely wife for the first half of May, but when we get back there are plans to record a second EP ASAP. We have cover art in production, we have all of the songs written (about six, give or take), and we have an actual recording studio planned for the recording.... so expect this one to be done and dusted a lot quicker than the last one. We're forking out some cash so we can do it quick (but quality), and have everything in our hands to do final tweaking ourselves.

So, finally, as you know I don't really like to post a blog post without something a new track for you to listen to, generally a cover. Along with the 4 tracks from the demo on the player on the left, you'll also see "Surrounded (cover)". It's a cover of a track by The Mountain Goats and John Vanderslice from their collaborative EP "Moon Colony Bloodbath", which is ostensibly about organ harvesters who live on the moon. I saw the Mountain Goats live for the fifth time (along with Nine Inch Nails and Architecture in Helsinki they're probably my most seen live band) on Wednesday, and I can tell you now that if you haven't seen John Darnielle gesticulate, maniacally grin and forcefully enunciate his way through a song, you may die not knowing what songwriting is actually all about.

You can also download the track here. I have a new recording device which is a thousand times easier to use than my previous one, so expect more covers and impromptu songs about the news.

Thanks for reading, we will keep you up to date with details of the gig/s and how to get your tickets when we know!
