We're supporting Michael Paynter!

Hey Little Boners!

We're breaking the (vaguely kinda' maybe) big time and supporting a Top 40 ARIA Artist!

Michael Paynter, who recently had a hit with a "Love the Fall" (featuring the Veronicas - Browny has dibs on them if they turn up, I've been reliably informed) is playing the Ferntree Gully Hotel on Thursday the 18th of November and we have been asked to support!

But enough about the guy whose show it actually is! We're playing a new set - we have been working on new songs, and by the time you see us next we'll have almost a full set of new songs (at least half)! We're busting out the electric, and we're monkeying around with all kinds of junk!

Tickets are $15 (pre-sale), but if you come to any one gig to support us this year, please make it this one as we're starting to get some gigs supporting some headliners that people (but maybe not us) have heard of!

AND if you're a Michael Paynter fan - this is a cheap as chips gig to see him for an hour and a half set!

It's a Thursday night, but doors open at 7:00, we're on stage at 7:15, so it's a nice early one if you want an early night (and just to see us) or you can make it a late one and stay around for Mr Paynter himself!

You can pay via the PayPal link below... it should work, please let me know if you have any issues, and I can organise another method.

Thanks for Camberwell, The Prague and Hello Brunny Hotel!

Brunny 22

Hey Little Boners!

Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and made their way to the Palace Camberwell gig! We had a great time, and it would seem we got the best sound mix we've had yet. I had a bald man with a bushy grey moustache come up to me, shake me by the hand, and tell me he really appreciated our sound. I'm not sure that he's exactly our normal target audience, but shit, he loved us. If we had shirts I would have given him one.

We placed second on the night, and got 85% on our score card from the organisers. Unfortunately we had a gig clash for the semi-final, so we've had to part ways with that little competition, but we're thankful for the gig!

An extra special thanks to those who made it to The Prague last Thursday. It was a bit of an odd night, but we were really glad to have you guys there. And glad the vampires didn't come in from the walls! Looking forward to see a few people who came up to us after the show (new fans!) at upcoming shows...

So... about those gigs! As above (avert your eyes, children), we're playing the Brunswick Hotel on the 22nd of July. There's no cover charge, beer is cheap, and the Brunswick is a great, warm venue.

Additionally, we're playing with two acts we've wanted to play with for a very long time. I've known Jess Shulman for a little while now, and seen her play several times, and she's freaking awesome. She will steal your heart and break it through song. And she'll probably laugh about the whole thing. She's that good.

Adam Cousens can be found here and/or here. He has a new album on its way in the next few months, a great sound and shit, is this guy famous yet? Because he fucking should be. He's supported Clare Bowditch, The Bedroom Philosopher, Tim Rogers, The Angels and played more festivals than my hands could bear to actually type. He's got a great sound, and we're really looking forward to playing with him.

9:00 - Jess Shulman

10:00 - Adam Cousens (and Band)

11:00 - Little Bones

So, three bands you really need to see, cheap beer, no cover. Come down. Do yourself a favour (and invite Molly Meldrum, if you know him).

** Please note the above swap of Adam Cousens and Little Bones. **

Little Bones go to (the) PRAGUE

We're playing a gig on Thursday 8th of July at the Prague, a new-ish venue in Thornbury, just past Northcote on High St.

The Prague is a great venue, looks a little like Fangtasia (for True Blood fans out there), and has a great selection of beers and spirits (particularly those of the Czech variety). The owners are lovely, both Brownie and I have had a chance to speak to the woman who seems to have a major hand in the place. It seems ripe for a big gig, and will probably see (/probably has already seen) a lot of great punk, rock and everything in between gigs. I for one am looking forward to knocking back some well earned celebratory czech beers after the gig with everyone.

Tickets are just $8 (and this time we're not paying a promoter, so it's an even better way to support us), the venue opens at 6:00 and there'll be a fashion show on beforehand. We'll be on at 9:00, but if you want fashion and a band before us - this is your night!

We have it on good authority there'll be fashion models there (this is something both the gig booking dude and the lovely female owner stressed to me), so you know, if you're looking to start your burgeoning fashion career, or you fancy yourself a modeliser, you can indulge yourself while also listening to us play some fine tunes!

Please come down, we'd love to play this place again, and we'd love to see your faces from the stage!

ROCK! MODELS! BEER! Does that not sound like the ingredients to a wonderful night? Or possibly a very expensive and illegal stew?

Little Bones live at The Palace Camberwell on 3rd July

Hey everyone!

Thanks to the people who came to the Chaise Lounge show, we are playing another gig in the very near future! After a year without a gig, we suddenly have two in quick succession and hopefully more coming.

We're playing the Palace Hotel in Camberwell on Saturday the 3rd of July, as part of the MLG Masterclass showcase, and this time we're playing with our full sound. This will entail Brownie using his drumsticks (the people rejoice), properly amped up Johnny and Wes, and a bit more variety in our set thanks to a bit more flexibility.

We're really excited for the gig, and we hope you guys will be too!

It's the same setup as last time, with the ticket price being $10. The list price is $13, but we're taking the $3 burden (our cut) because we want you guys there, and we're doing it for the love of the game.

The Palace is pretty much directly across from Camberwell station, so after we're off stage you can head off and carry your Little Bones high into the rest of the night. Or just keep drinking! I imagine this venue will be central for a lot of people so you'll be able to get home, or head to your next venue, easily.

You can pay via PayPal again (see below), and we will send all tickets to you direct. There's no need to pay any additional amount for the postage, we'll take care of that too!

Please come down and support us, we're working on a great new set for you, and we'll definitely be playing some stuff you have not previously heard. Look forward to seeing you there!

Acoustic gig at Chaise Lounge, 28th of May

Hi everyone!

We have a gig on Friday 28th of May at the Chaise Lounge. It's part of a showcase, and we will be playing an acoustic set (that's right, Brownie will be playing with brushes!).

Chaise Lounge is a cocktail lounge, so it'll be a great place to have a few drinks before we get on stage, catch some of the other acts, as we get on second last at 11. You could also go out somewhere before hand and come in for our show and some great drinks, or get a late dinner then head in!

Tickets are $10. We realise this is expensive for an acoustic set, so we're giving everyone who buys a pre-sale ticket from us (it's $12 at the door) a copy of our demo, handmade by us! We'll also give you great big piles of gratitude and hugs too, if you so desire.

If we can sell over 80, then we'll be making a really good representation to the management company that books these gigs, and we may be able to get on their roster for supports for larger national and international acts. I think we all want that, right?

More gigs = more Little Bones for all, and more recordings, which we plan to do VERY SOON.
So please invite friends, and have a big night out!

There are a couple of ways that you can get tickets - you can get tickets directly from either Johnny, Brownie or myself (Wes), or if this is not entirely practical, you can buy through PayPal (either with a PayPal account, or credit/debit card), which will go direct to us.

We'll give you your ticket on the night (we'll have someone at the door with a list), or if it's really important you have it beforehand, you can give your address in the info section.

Thank you so much (in advance), and we look forward to rocking your socks off, acoustically.

Demos, Videos and Gig-ohs.

Well howdy.

It's been a long time in between drinks for blog posts, and I apologise on behalf of the state of Little Bonesland. A lot of things have been happening, but do you ever get the feeling that despite the fact that things are happening, you're moving glacially slow?

Little Bones does. Little Bones feels this so much it's longing for a volcanic eruption to melt the glacier, and stop international flights for a few weeks.

But... this is a reasonably packed blog post! Because a lot has happened since we last posted.

Firstly, we reshot the video from our last blog post about at a proper studio (with Emma and Tom again), in front of a green screen. We're waiting on seeing the video but word on the street (that's Little Green Light Films' street, Emma and Tom's production company) is that it looks pretty damn good, despite the fact we were joking around so much that we kind of held the filming up a little.... which is probably something to do with the fact we spend too much time together playing music and drinking.

Which, in related news, means that we're pretty fit for gigging. I've been dropping off demos and e-mailing people for the last few weeks, and I can announce, here, that we have our first gig of the year on the 28th of May at the Chaise Lounge in the city!

We're playing as part of acoustic showcase, but we're playing full band, so come on down and support us. We may blow the earholes of people who expect to see nice , light acoustic music, but if we have the numbers, we're pretty much golden.

The more tickets we sell, the more likely it is we'll get a resident gig and/or get a spot on their stable for the bands the organisers manage (they organise tours for international and local bands).

So put it in your diary, put it on a post-it and put in on your mirror, tattoo it on your chest in a gothic font with our band logo, do what you must to remember! The tickets will be $10 directly from us ($12 on the door), but as a way of recompense, everyone who buys a ticket will get a copy of our demo/EP.

Which is the next piece of interesting news! Yes, you read right, solid copies of our EP will be available soon. Now, it's been a long time since we recorded these tracks... It's not exactly news that we have songs recorded as a full band and, I'll be damned, it's over 6 months since they were recorded.

We were a different band then. We can play those songs now in so many ways it's rare that we practice them in the original form (punk, metal and wimpy singer-songwriter seem to be our favourite ways to play them when we're taking the piss), so it will be good to have them in your hands, and in the hands of people who will hopefully want to book us. The Old Bar guy seemed intrigued by our demo when I dropped in, so watch this space, I guess.

If you would like to listen to the demo - look left. The songs are all there for your streaming and perusal!

I (Wes) will be away in New York with my lovely wife for the first half of May, but when we get back there are plans to record a second EP ASAP. We have cover art in production, we have all of the songs written (about six, give or take), and we have an actual recording studio planned for the recording.... so expect this one to be done and dusted a lot quicker than the last one. We're forking out some cash so we can do it quick (but quality), and have everything in our hands to do final tweaking ourselves.

So, finally, as you know I don't really like to post a blog post without something a new track for you to listen to, generally a cover. Along with the 4 tracks from the demo on the player on the left, you'll also see "Surrounded (cover)". It's a cover of a track by The Mountain Goats and John Vanderslice from their collaborative EP "Moon Colony Bloodbath", which is ostensibly about organ harvesters who live on the moon. I saw the Mountain Goats live for the fifth time (along with Nine Inch Nails and Architecture in Helsinki they're probably my most seen live band) on Wednesday, and I can tell you now that if you haven't seen John Darnielle gesticulate, maniacally grin and forcefully enunciate his way through a song, you may die not knowing what songwriting is actually all about.

You can also download the track here. I have a new recording device which is a thousand times easier to use than my previous one, so expect more covers and impromptu songs about the news.

Thanks for reading, we will keep you up to date with details of the gig/s and how to get your tickets when we know!

Recording a Video Clip...

Well howdy. Long time no blog.

Take a seat. Old man's gonna' tell a story.

Last night we filmed our first film clip! Well, I'd like to take responsibility for the filming as well as the playing the song over and over for a few hours, but it wasn't I (Wes), or Brownie or Johnny, but the wonderful Emma and Tom (no, not the juice people) from Little Green Light Films.

We spent about 4 hours in a dance studio just off Chapel street, Prahran, plodding our way through "Space" (and trying to remember the specific eccentricities we recorded on the day). Perhaps aptly, the place we were playing at was actually called "The Space", seemingly a hub of dance academy activity. The sounds of Lady Gaga, Britney and numerous other pop music wafted through the windows and walls as we slowly increased our volume to compete.

It seemed such a shame to be surrounded by numerous pro-am dancers and not involve them, but we stayed true. Whilst a synchronised dance
routine would have been wonderful, and oh so appropriate, we feel that us playing the song will hopefully be enough to keep you interested. Next time we'll have a full 3 minute bump and grind extravaganza, I promise*.

What else is there to say? Have a look at the photos, please check out the Little Green Light Films website - they have a short film coming out soon which I have a very small cameo in as a seemingly perennially angry boyfriend ('Mates'), which should be screening soon (possibly accompanied by our video!). The video will be up soon, and we will alert you to it's presence! Next stop, the EP!

More photos here.

*Promise not binding.
